This course assists learners in developing a comprehensive understanding of the bio-psycho-social nature of addiction. Participants will be introduced to an overview of the addiction treatment continuum of care, the theories and treatment options that may be available to assist those with an addiction issue including Therapeutic Art This course will also provide learners with a relevant foundation on psychoactive drugs including alcohol, cannabis, opioids, stimulants, hallucinogens and psychotherapeutic agents. The effects of the drugs through active use to withdrawal will be discussed.
